Even Bigger Brothers

April 16, 2010 by Rieshy
My 18 yo just finished reading The Hobbit to my 8 yo.  They both had a blast.  Many a reading ended with an excursion to the front yard for a real-life sword fight.

My 18 yo moves on to college in the Fall.  They just started Howard Pyle's Robin Hood.  It could be the last book my oldest son has time to read to his little brother.

I didn't remember Howard Pyle being quite so hilarious.  Oh.  They've moved on to next period: Cultural Literacy- The Far Side 101.

I'll just call this a bittersweet Feel Good Friday post.

That was really sweet. I hope he is going to college 5 minutes away from home. Otherwise, you must be dying. I know I will be when that time comes.

Oh, that just made my heart hurt...I can see that in our future (although I have *some* time left). What wonderful boys to spend that time together...it's a testament to good parenting.

I'm so glad that they can enjoy all the fine literature available. :) How wonderful that they are such good friends!

How adorable! I hope my boys are like that with each other when the get bigger. Right now they are at the "can't leave them alone together because someone small might get a giant toy thrown at their head".

My oldest had to wait 10 years and 3 sisters before he finally got the brother he had been praying for: "Dear God, please let it be a boy unless it needs to be a girl."

Anders has to read before he can play xbox. we've had to be very clear that the Calvin and Hobbes omnibus does not count. Happy Birthday sweet one!

You KNOW a book has reached a boy when he starts sword fighting it out.

I'm sure he'll miss his big brother but they can still read on Christmas/Spring/Summer break.

I love it when this happens in my house. I just quietly tip toe and get a camera...

This reminds me of the times I spent reading to my little brother. He still remembers it (as do I) and it's one of our favorite memories together.
