Thankful Thursday

December 31, 2009 by Rieshy
It's ironic that today is both New Year's Eve and Thankful Thursday.

I'm not feeling especially thankful,  chagrined would be the better word.  Chagrined because I keep losing sight of all my blessings and what's worse- mentally pouting.  I hate pouters.

When I think about the 2010 coming I'm not feeling especially powerful either. Closer to the truth is that I'm doubtful of my abilities to be the person I want to be.

Which leads me to the passage that was read last Sunday night at church:

The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
"The Lord is my portion," says my soul,
"therefore I will hope in him."

Lamentations 3:22-24

It reminds me that even though I enjoy making goals and resolutions the truth is that every day is a new day. I don't have to be powerful, or drink 8 glasses of water a day, or meet any measure of tangible success.  I just have to wait upon the Lord.

Which of course is monumentally simple and monumentally unfathomable.  Most of all it is monumentally blessed.

Very Nice. I too believe that every day is new and you can start over. I don't "do" New Year's resolutions.

Amen! It changes your whole outlook when you take life one day at a time. God is good and He will see us through it all! Thank you for sharing from your heart today.

I really like that verse, as well as Micah 6:8

"He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God."

I guess I like verses that remind me to just listen to God.

Thanks for being a blessing in my life!

Amen to that, Susan. Yes, life can get frustrating indeed. But I think that if we keep our eyes fixed on the cross, we can get the strength to move on.

Be blessed today and always...

I have chose this verse as mine for the year 2010! I not only LOVE it, but it just sums it all up so well where I am at right now with the Lord. Happy New Year to you and may the Lord bless your life with His abundant love and peace. Hugs, Debbie

I am so thankful that His mercies are new every morning and that He alone is faithful. When we depend on "self" we cannot do it. When we depend on the Holy Spirit, we can.

May 2010 be a time of growth and love for you,
Debbie
